Mendocino County Lodging Association Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
Wednesday December 5, 2007 Stanford Inn, Mendocino, CA
The meeting was called to order by President Jo Bradley at 1:26 pm. Present were Jan Rodriguez, Josie Perla, Scott Schneider (ED), Mike Bradbrook, Rich Carpenito (2pm), Stuart Marcus, Jeff Stanford, Renata Dorn, Richard Strom, Alydia Atkins (guest), Jamie Buckner (guest). Privilege of the Floor/Public Comment Tablecloth used for media events and trade shows being redone to include the word “County”. Also, some banner ads do not have the word “County”. Both entities are being changed. Letter is to be written to Ozone & HypeHouse ensuring that everything that has the word “Mendocino” must have the word “County” following it.
Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes Tabled to next meeting
Treasurer’s Report Savings Account - $101.59 Checking Account - $113,621.05
MCPA Report MCPA has signed contract with the County. Looking at re-doing Board structure; Looking at Welcome Center feasibility; Looking at starting an agro-tourism program;
Marketing Committee Report Received presentation of Nature Tourism Council – will come back next month with a proposal for partnership funds. Committee feels it should be supported. Will not distribute fulfillment piece via Certified Folder Display, but will look into different airports. Richard elected as Chair. Jan elected as Vice-Chair. Committee looking into expanding “Day of the Dead” festival for next year to be County-wide. Administrator’s Report Food purchase authorized for Holiday Party. MCLA gift certificates to be made up for consumer give-a-ways. Room Bank to be used to fulfill gift certificate requests. Hype House needs to be instructed to focus more on South Coast and Inland and get story ideas for those areas. Mark to be invited to next marketing & board meeting.
Old Business By-Law Revisions: No comments received from membership regarding By-Law revisions. It is not legal for current non-paying members to not receive membership benefits except for serving on the BOD and MCLA committees. Scott to send out postcard with the new changes to all membership. Collections Update: County is responsible for collection of late BID payments. MCLA pays for collection fees. Still have not received payments from a few properties.
New Business Update on Redwood Coast Chamber: Redwood Coast Chamber (from Fort Ross to Elk) has had difficulty staying alive. Chamber has an interim Board until February, 2008 at which time a formal Board will be elected. MCLA would like to assist in the efforts, if requested. County Deliverables: Develop a benchmark calendar for contract deliverables;
